Failcon 2011 attracted more than 500 founders and investors to this year’s conference, and was proud to feature demo’s from 11 local startups. CardFlick, LetsListen, and Repost.us were voted “Most Likely To Succeed” by the audience.
CardFlick allows you to create customized business cards from stunning themes, then share them with a flick to one user or many. Your contacts are cloud synced so your information is always up to date. It was a great application to feature at the conference!
LetsListen is a cloud music locker that lets you chat and listen to music with your friends in real-time. You can store and play your whole music library online, and then notify your Facebook/Twitter friends to join your room and listen with you.
Repost.us is a global content network enabling publishers to offer articles and other multimedia content for instant syndication. Their technology makes digital content embeddable just like video, allowing content to be posted anywhere quickly and easily, matching the look & feel of the destination site with proper attribution.
Contestants were chosen from more than 50 companies that applied to demo at this year’s event, with products launched in the past 18 months. Throughout the event, attendees discussed the new projects with the founders to determine target market, team dynamic, and monetization strategy. Filip Molcan, the founder of demo company MoreDays, mentioned they were at “Techcrunch Disrupt, Web 2.0 Summit, SF Pitch and others. I think that there were the best people at FailCon … We’ve met some really great people here, and I think that this has been the best event we’ve demo’d at yet.”
Demo winners receive in-kind services from Failcon sponsors including: The 5-hour “Start-Up Package” from Perisho Ramirez Filler Browning Accounting, covering Chart of Accounts consulting and Choice of Entity consulting; an opportunity to join SoftLayer’s Startup Incubator Program and receive $1000 credit/month for a year on the SoftLayer platform; as well as $250 transcription services by Verbal Ink.
